Seeking Senior Business Development Manager for Austin Texas Based Biotech Diagnostics Company

Detekt Biomedical is seeking a motivated and energetic business development individual to take the lead on developing and expanding new business opportunities for an established rapid diagnostic testing instrument that is currently sold worldwide. Experience with consumer and professional based rapid testing assays or similar biotech, medical or at-home diagnostic testing is desired. The role is best suited for an individual with strong self-motivation and creativity in researching and finding niche opportunities within a large potential market. Strong communication and networking skills and a willingness to rapidly learn about new industries and driving forces behind upcoming testing regulations and market needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of business development, strategic partnerships, or project management experience in biotech, medical devices, diagnostics, or similar industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA required.
  • Proven experience in market assessments, financial modeling, business case development, and contract negotiation
  • Strong familiarity with biotechnology licensing agreements, intellectual property, and regulatory landscapes
  • Previous experience working with biological and scientific instruments or reagents markets is advantageous
  • Proficiency with CRM software and business development tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively and align them with broader business goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop compelling proposals and presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High level of self-accountability, initiative, and ability to thrive in small, cross-functional teams

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic outreach campaigns to identify and engage diagnostic testing companies that align with Detekt’s product offerings
  • Drive business development activities to achieve revenue and growth targets, building relationships with both small and large industrial companies
  • Lead the company’s business development activities to achieve new business revenue and growth goals
  • Grow Detekt’s Business Development pipeline by cultivating leads and relationships with large industrial companies to meet their technical needs
  • Explore potential clients interested in leveraging our cloud-based platform for future collaboration
  • Regularly track and analyze business development metrics to ensure alignment with company goals
  • Negotiate contracts, manage partnerships, and secure new business deals while ensuring compliance with industry regulations

Detekt Biomedical is seeking a motivated and energetic sales and marketing individual to take the lead on developing and expanding new sales and business opportunities for an established rapid diagnostic testing instrument that is currently sold worldwide.

The role is best suited for an individual with strong self-motivation and creativity in researching and finding niche opportunities within a large potential market. Strong communication and networking skills and a willingness to quickly learn about new industries and driving forces behind upcoming testing regulations and market needs.

Experience with consumer and/or professional biotech, medical, or at-home diagnostic products is desired, but not required.

 

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of sales experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, attend, or exhibit at key conferences and events to foster relationships and identify business opportunities (travel up to 25%)

Assembly and Quality Control Technician (Part-Time)

Detekt Biomedical LLC, a life science product design and engineering firm in Austin TX, is seeking a hard-working college student for a part-time position as a product inspection and assembly technician. Primary role will be to assist the product design team with final quality control, inspection and assembly of products at facility. A willingness to learn in a small team environment and a desire to improve job quality are essential requirements. Individuals who are efficient, focused, enthusiastic and generally good with their hands are encouraged to apply. Experience with instrumentation and software are a plus.

Daily Tasks will include:
– Performing quality control tests on instruments and products to be shipped
– Light assembly work using glues, adhesives, and paints
– Use of pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers and other fine hand tools
– Packaging, boxing and shipping product
– Performing inventory assessments and maintaining and organizing parts in warehouse
– Use of Excel and Word to document and communicate progress with team

Hours are flexible, but the ideal candidate will be available a minimum of 10 hours total per week between the hours of 9-5 M-F. Office and warehouse are located close to IH-35 and Ben White, and the candidate must have their own reliable mode of transportation to the office. Additionally, successful applicants will be exposed to a variety of other tasks and opportunities based upon the abilities and skills they demonstrate. Position is currently open and extends through spring 2025, with potential to continue through summer 2025
based on performance and availability.

Optics Technician (Part-Time)


Detekt Biomedical LLC, a life science product design and engineering firm in Austin TX, is seeking a hard-working individual for a part-time position as an electronics and optical device inspection and assembly technician. The primary role will be to assemble production-ready optical subassemblies, working to keep a high level of quality and assessing incoming parts. A willingness to learn in a small team environment and a desire to improve job quality are essential. Individuals who are efficient, focused, enthusiastic and generally good with their hands are encouraged to apply. Experience with instrumentation and optics are a plus.

 

Daily tasks will include:
– Performing quality control inspections on parts
– Assembling PCBs, mounts, and wiring harnesses
– Using internal software to calibrate electronics
– Use microscopes to clean micro-parts
– Light assembly work using glues, adhesives, and paints
– Use of pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers and other fine hand tools
– Performing inventory assessments and maintaining and organizing parts in warehouse
– Use of Excel and Word to document and communicate progress with team
