Job Title: Corporate Development Associate

Company Overview: Detekt is a 20-year-old, privately held biomedical instrumentation and diagnostics company committed to improving the health and safety of 5 billion lives by 2030 with its rapid diagnostic testing solutions. This goal, as well as significantly increasing its top and bottom lines and diversifying its customer base, will be achieved via strategic acquisitions. The company has established a strong position in the food and beverage safety industry and has compelling opportunities to leverage its platform technology and intellectual property in related and adjacent industries.

Position Overview: The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in business or an MBA and 1-2 years of relevant M&A experience with an investment bank and/or corporate development experience with an acquisitive corporation. Strong financial and analytical skills and excellent people, communication, and organizational skills are critical requirements. The candidate will be motivated to leverage their skills and experience in an operating company environment with a small, agile, and highly motivated team, and to collaborate closely with senior leadership to identify, vet, and negotiate with acquisition prospects. They will report to the CEO and an advisory board member who is a highly experienced Silicon Valley entrepreneur, investor, and mentor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential acquisition targets and partnership opportunities.
  • Build financial analysis and projection models, perform valuation analyses, and lead due diligence processes.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to execute corporate development projects.
  • Track industry trends and provide insights into market opportunities.
  • Support transaction negotiations and deal closings. 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or MBA in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (internships or entry-level roles in investment banking, consulting, or corporate development preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and MS Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with licensing agreements, intellectual property, and regulatory landscapes.

Assembly and Quality Control Technician (Full-Time)

Detekt Biomedical LLC, a life science product design and engineering firm in Austin TX, is seeking a hard-working college student for a part-time position as a product inspection and assembly technician. Primary role will be to assist the product design team with final quality control, inspection and assembly of products at facility. A willingness to learn in a small team environment and a desire to improve job quality are essential requirements. Individuals who are efficient, focused, enthusiastic and generally good with their hands are encouraged to apply. Experience with instrumentation and software are a plus.

Daily Tasks will include:
– Performing quality control tests on instruments and products to be shipped
– Light assembly work using glues, adhesives, and paints
– Use of pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers and other fine hand tools
– Packaging, boxing and shipping product
– Performing inventory assessments and maintaining and organizing parts in warehouse
– Use of Excel and Word to document and communicate progress with team
